Cable colour in america is black and white.. is it ? Really ? wow OK, here in australia Red is Active (what you call HOT) black is Neutral and a Green/Yellow is Earth now in some circumstances Instead of ACTIVE = RED, Active is Brown Instead of NEUTRAL = BLACK Neutral is Blue the ground remains the same but yeah.... black and white.. that's weird we use that MAYBE... on a wire that goes via a switch from the Light to the Switch usually it's a white wire, but can be a white and a black if i came to the U.S. and looked at Mains Power, i'd be confused, no question about it . (i mean AFTER i took the wall plate off)

If ground and neutral are both connected together at the label anyway then why not just have a two hole plug and socket and tie the microwave metal case directly neutral? Why the need for the additional earth wire if it is simply neutral?

Not what I was hoping to see : Ground is not Earth. Yes, you can bond a Ground to Earth, but it's 2 separate entities. Ground/Common is commonly found in DC Circuits (Negative Rail, although you can do the same with Positive rail). Earth is what the word says. If you bond a rail to Earth, you force it to be at Earth potential. Earth is the enormous/fixed/constant point (although you will get different PD depending how far you are from Earths centre / altitude). Ground can be above, below or at Earth PD, depending on circuit/bonding. The 3d Pin on the house outlet plugs, in this video, was Earth. You can imagine the Negative terminal in your vehicle as the vehicles Ground, isolated from Earth due to tyres. We are surrounded by many different Grounds, but only 1 Earth. Don't confuse the 2 or their names ! Enjoyed the illustrations. Thanks
